Fishing Creels

covos

A fishing creel is a trap used to catch octopus, one of Sesimbra’s most famous species. The creel may assume various sizes and shapes. It has a hole through which the octopuses enter, and a pouch that serves to place the bait. Once the bait has been added, they are deployed into the water attached to a cable measuring well over 300 metres, and separated at ten metre intervals, forming a “hunt”.
